Kawerau District

Kawerau is one of the youngest towns in New Zealand. Located in the heart of the Bay of Plenty, Kawerau is seated at the foot of Putauaki (Mount Edgecumbe), a volcano that has been dormant for 1000 years. The area hosts varied scenic beauty, and a wonderful climate, that makes it a great place to visit.

Kawerau has a shopping center, a relaxed vibe, and a rich Maori heritage. It is within easy driving distance of lakes, forests, beaches, thermal springs and the Tarawera River. Known as the outdoor adventure playground of the Bay of Plenty, Kawerau has a number of activates for the whole family.
